Fellow 
One of only five chiropractic sports specialists in Alberta, Dr. Macdonald completed a three-year post-doctoral fellowship in sport sciences at the Royal College of Chiropractic Sport Sciences (Canada).

Dr. Macdonald has completed additional post-graduate work at the National Strength and Conditioning Association to become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

 

Researcher/Author
Along with the University of Calgary’s Human Performance Laboratory and a McGill University epidemiologist, Dr. Macdonald co-authored the first world study to demonstrate the performance-enhancing effect of chiropractic treatment on Olympic-level athletes. The study’s methods were used on the Canadian Bobsleigh and Skeleton teams at the 2006 Winter Olympics (Torino, Italy) and with athletes at the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Dr. Macdonald consults for the Canadian Professional Motocross National Championship Series on the health and safety of professional motocross racers competing in Canada.

Dr. Macdonald consults for the Annual International Motocross des Nations World Championships.

 

Team Member

Dr. Macdonald is the only Canadian on the Asterisk Medical Team, a group of specialists who provide treatment to racers in select rounds of the World Supercross Series.

Dr. Macdonald has served as one of several health contributors to IMPACT Magazine and Racer X Illustrated, two leading health and racing magazines.

 

Speaker/Educator
Dr. Macdonald serves as host for the Smart Runner Seminar Series. This annual event shares the newest peer-reviewed research from the world of running with Calgary’s burgeoning running community.

 

Consultant/Product Development

As a competitive distance runner, Dr. Macdonald tests new products and gives his unique perspective as a sport specialist and athlete for Mizuno Corporation, an international sports equipment company. He also serves as health consultant to Racer X Illustrated magazine and has served on the medical advisory panel for World Health Club.

 

Community Supporter
